The end of 512?

And yet another sign Austin is growing.  http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/austin/512-area-code-to-be-exhausted-later-this-year   *Robert Maxwell KXAN.com  1/30/2013

737 is the new number- so if you’re looking to “look” like you’ve been in Austin for decades are aren’t one of those transplants (like me!), you may want to go ahead and snag the last few 512 numbers remaining.

Property Taxes

Friendly reminder, property taxes are due January 31st at midnight! http://www.traviscad.org/

This time of year I always wonder- do I mind writting that check, or should I have escrowed those funds? The answer to that question is it depends…. When looking to purchase a property- be sure to always shop your loan. Some lenders may require you to escrow your taxes, others may give you the option- often with rate ramifications. Be sure to inquire about your options for escrowing your taxes or paying annually.

As much as I hate writing that check every January- I still like the fact that money is mine throughout the year to earn interst on, even if it is .000001% 🙂
